At the Eastman mandolin company there are no computerized machines or industrial routers, as all the mandolins are made completely by hand. Eastman instruments are handcrafted from aged spruce and maple wood in the same manner as Lloyd Loar’s famous workshop of the 1920’s.
The scroll adds beauty to the mandolin and is carved and finished by hand. Because they are carved by hand, each scroll is unique and provides the mandolin’s ’signature.’
